To infinity and beyond

In an attempt to whittle down our “things to do in Texas before we leave” list, we took a family adventure to Houston this weekend. I had forgotten how exciting road trips are to kids, even if it’s only a few hours away. I don’t know what the boys enjoyed most.

The tour of the Bluebell ice cream factory, the stop at the Houston Temple, the all-day excursion to the Johnson Space Center (worth every penny–very fun stuff), the hotel pool, eating at two different restaurants, or staying up late to watch the lighting of the Olympic torch.

Oh, it is so good to get away, even if just for a snatch of time. It is good to get away, even though I forget how much work it is to prepare for such an adventure with so many little ones in tow. And it is good to get away, because it is a good reminder of how nice it is to come home.

Happy President’s Day to you!

That is crazy. We went to Houston this weekend too and also did the space center! Crazy we did not bump into teach other.. well that would have been a stretch but a possibility anway. Glad you had a good time. It is so good to get away and break from the day to day grind.

Jen: Wow, that IS wild! A fun place, no? Our boys can’t stop talking about it. Wish we had seen you there!

YES! The Houston temple is very close to where I grew up in Klein, although it was under construction only after I left for college (and never went back terribly often) so not sure where it is – will have to google map it. Champions Forrest Drive goes into my neighborhood and my old house was just a block or two off of that main road. Crazy that you were so close to my old home! Made me miss it and Houston!!!!
