We had a ball (and cake too)
There was (slightly overcooked) roast, homemade bread, fruit, and truly the best from-scratch cake I’ve ever made. Preston helped. We were both amazed at the results. Everyone had seconds. (Except me. Still going strong on my resolution. But I did take the tiniest of nibbles, just to confirm the deliciousness.) It was such a lovely and quiet and peaceful birthday celebration.
Seth asked for one thing for his birthday: a baseball mitt for him and one for each of his boys, so our backyard pick-up games could become more official. So after the cake and presents for everyone, the very excited party moved outside for an evening of throwing and catching.
It was the perfect birthday for a husband who is just about the kindest, most thoughtful, most honest and good person I know. And he is nearly a Doctor of Journalism, which brings our entire family more glee than can be described. He tried on his fancy graduation robes the other day and we all just oohed and aahed.
SETH: Superb husband, Ever patient, Terrific editor and writer, Honest and good.
I love you Seth! Happy Birthday!
