A glimmer

February 15, 2011

Friends, we have things to discuss.

First off, we could talk about how this boy went an entire month without sugar. He passed on cookies, birthday cake, and the Candy Lady who brings a purse-full to church each week. He was one determined boy. Now, however, he is enjoying his freedom, just in time for Valentine’s Day.

We could talk about how this boy (minutes after I snapped this photo) landed in the emergency room because of a razor and a haircut and a mother with slippery fingers. Eek! But we don’t want to talk about this. He has all his appendages and his scar will heal. Mine, however, may not.

Seth and Asher a few weeks back

No, instead of talking about stitches, I want to talk to you about weather, about that fact that it is above freezing around here, and how are family set off for church on Sunday without coats, how the entire neighborhood emerged from hibernation to play in the streets, in shirt sleeves. (And even some shorts.) And when Addison ran to join them, he threw open the door, looked past the three feet of snow still on the ground, and shouted, “Summer! It’s here!”

Not yet, little buddy, but it’s coming. As Seth remarked yesterday, his favorite sound is the sound of melting snow. Happy V-Day to you all.

Oh, my goodness, Tiffany…so sorry about the ER/haircut experience! Preston’s hair so reminds me of Spencer’s…fine as can be. His hair looks like that when I cut it. And same color, too. Good for Jackson…tell him congrats on his big accomplishment! And isn’t temperature all relative?? I can imagine you wouldn’t be going to church without coats in Texas if it was JUST above freezing….:) I enjoy your columns!

Tell Jackson how proud we are of him! What an accomplishment! So sorry about the accident. It’s more painful on the Mom. Hope you can hear the sound of more melting snow soon.

Way to GO Jackson!! That is not an easy thing to do especially when you are 8 years old. I wonder how many kids his age have voluntarily given up sugar for a month….
And I’m so glad it’s above freezing. It’s funny that 33 degrees is the new 90 where you’re at.

WOW! I am so impressed that Jackson did it! And so sorry about the haircut. We’ve had above freezing temperatures here too and it’s been heavenly!

…and that last one was from Janelle, not Dallin.
