A break

March 19, 2011

While the rest of Minnesota headed south for spring break, we went on a small road trip up north.

Natives call Duluth the Norwegian Riviera.

We are actually on Lake Superior here. That’s the famous lift bridge in the background.

The indoor water park just steps from our hotel room door was the obvious highlight.

As was the Maritime Museum.

Of course, while Mom was busy photographing lighthouses, Jackson grabbed the camera and took the some pictures that told the real story. Here are two of my favorite:

And then we were home. It is always so good to get away, and even better to return. Before we left our family celebrated the 11th anniversary of Seth and I’s first date with the same fare we ate eleven years ago.

Blueberry-lemon scones. As you can see, they turned out very blue, but they were still delicious. Just like the past eleven years!

What a fun little vacation! And yes, Jackson captured Seth on his phone perfectly! ha ha ha!

I like to think that I was NOT driving when that photo was taken. 🙂

Oh, and yes — Tiffany captured so very well this nice little break we had. Walking out on that odd mix of sand and ice, and knowing that we were literally standing on top of part of Lake Superior — that was really something.

That’s the cutest picture of that happy Dad with his fun boys! What a great spring break! So funny about Seth texting!
