A dip down south

May 26, 2011

We are home from a very quick, very special trip back to Texas.

It was a thrilling weekend for our entire family, watching Seth celebrate his graduation. Can you believe those robes? So stunning–so wizardlike. (I wrote more about the experience here.)

With both sets of parents in town, we felt such love and support from family and friends. It gave us all a wonderful sense of finality to that chapter in our lives.

For those of you who are wondering, a drive from Minnesota to Texas (or vice versa) is just a straight shot down Interstate 35, and if you’re not dodging tornadoes and a hail storm or three, or trying to quell the restlessness of one active two-year-old, the trip is actually quite pleasant. Especially if you have the privilege of staying with some wonderful friends and family along the way.

We are grateful for the journey, all of it, all of those years of schooling and support from family, friends, and God. I appreciate every day a husband who knows the value of finishing.  And we are all grateful to be home, at last.

Now it seems the next generation is anxious to take the helm:

Congrats to Seth and to you all! If ever there was an entire family effort, that would be it.

Love it! I feel like we got the first and the last but not the in between. So great to see photos. I especially liked the one of Jackson and the end. 🙂 It is finished! (Now your turn.) 🙂

Those robes do look something out of Harry Potter. Congratulations! What an accomplishment for all of you.

Yay Seth and Tiffany! Congratulations! (and way to tackle that road trip again! Eesh.)
And you’re right, the robes are definitely wizard-ly.
