Across the Pond: Day 1 & 2
Day 1, London: The Tower Bridge, Westminster Abbey (for the incredible evensong service), the Houses of Parliament, with a Beefeater at the Tower of London, the Queen’s Guards in those spectacular hats, and Platform 9 3/4 (for the kids, of course.) We raced around that city, and didn’t see half of what we wanted, but still, a lovely day. (And sunny! Note that sun!)
I’m not big fan of London, but it does have so much history, and makes for a good jumping-off point. Of course, the highlight of our brief time in London was staying with my friends Cindy and her husband Tom. They have three beautiful boys (with melt-your-heart British accents), and they gave us the royal treatment. (Really! The guest bedroom was decked out in some spectacular Kate & William decor.) Thank you Tom and Cindy! It was only after we drove away that we realized we didn’t snap a single photo of our time there. We were having too much fun chatting. Staying with this wonderful family was really our favorite part of the whole adventure.
Day 2, Windsor: We picked up a rental car and I hyperventilated in the passenger seat while Seth deftly maneuvered on the left side of the road and shot through an amazing number of roundabouts. Windsor Castle and the town of Windsor were lovely, another favorite.
*Note my gray hat. It stays with me the entire trip, and ensures that half my face is obscured in every picture.
